Position Summary This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. The employee shall support Saddleback Medical Center’s strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities. Through demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge, skills, and competence, the RN Educator facilitates learning experiences for interdisciplinary personnel through direct and indirect methods. The RN Educator coordinates, implements, and evaluates educational programs. The RN Educator acts as an education advisor and consultant to the staff, managers, and other educators to identify gaps in practice and learning needs of staff. The RN Educator functions as a clinical and a professional role model for staff; demonstrating accountability, performance, and responsibility in clinical practice. The RN Educator supports the integration and translation of research into practice as well as participates in performance improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities. The RN Educator provides clinical leadership and serves as a resource person to facilitate problem-solving and decision-making skills of staff. The RN Educator serves as a consultant for various committees and projects as it relates to improved patient outcomes through workforce competency development. The RN Educator functions as a change agent to improve patient care and supports interdisciplinary collaboration. The RN Educator integrates the Code of Ethics into all areas of practice and advocates for patients and staff at all levels. The RN Educator with assigned leadership of our ANCC Magnet designation maintains a focus and alignment on the ANCC Magnet guidelines. The RN Educator is responsible for promoting nursing excellence through the development, implementation, and maintenance of best practices, evidence-based care and the successful achievement and maintenance of the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Designation in collaboration with the Professional Development Director and the Chief Nursing Officer. The RN Educator facilitates a supportive environment, culture, and support programs to uphold Magnet infrastructure (shared governance, quality improvement, peer review, evidence-based practice, collegial teamwork, nursing research, etc.). Under the direction of the Professional Education Director, is responsible for the coordination, communication, and evaluation of nursing quality as it relates to ANCC requirements. Experience Minimum five (5) years recent direct experience in an acute care setting. Teaching experience preferred, including knowledge of adult education learning theories and curriculum design. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Windows computer skills including proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite. Two (2) years of experience in ANCC accreditation processes preferred. Expertise in data analysis, quality reporting, and performance improvement processes preferred. Experience in leading nursing excellence initiatives and project management preferred. Education Current California RN license required Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required Master's degree in Nursing preferred Certification in Nursing Professional Development preferred Certification in area of clinical specialty preferred (ie, PCCN, CCRN, RN-BC)
