SEO/SEM Specialist

This is a hybrid position, but applicants MUST be willing to commute to Worcester, MA. Our hybrid schedule consists of 4 days in-office and 1 work-from-home day per week. Fully remote applicants will NOT be accepted.
Worcester Interactive is a growing digital marketing agency in Worcester, MA, specializing in digital advertising, social media management, and web design for small to medium-sized businesses. We’re hiring an SEO/SEM Specialist to devise and implement our SEO strategy, create and manage digital ad campaigns, and report directly to the Brand Strategist. The SEO/SEM Specialist’s principal role is to own performance across organic/paid search from research and strategy through execution, optimization, and reporting. You’ll collaborate with content, web, and creative teammates to drive measurable growth in traffic, leads, and revenue.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
Build and maintain SEO roadmaps (technical, on-page, and local).
Develop paid search and paid social strategies aligned to client goals and budgets.
Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and relevant benchmarks, including ROAS, CPC, CTR, CVR, and impression share.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Perform keyword research, mapping, and intent analysis to maintain optimal search rankings.
Conduct competitor research and blog topic research for each client’s specific industry and demands.
Lead on-page content optimization strategy (titles, headers, schema, internal linking, meta descriptions, geotagging, and image alt text).
Coordinate technical SEO audits and fixes (Core Web Vitals, crawl/indexing, site architecture, blog publishing, robots.txt).
Manage local SEO (Google Business Profile improvements, name/address/phone number consistency, directory listings, backlinks, and reviews).
Collaborate with writers/designers to publish SEO content and landing pages.
Search Engine Marketing (SEM)/Digital Ads
Build and optimize digital ad campaigns on platforms such as Google, Meta, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and TikTok.
Structure and scale ad accounts with compelling ad copy, visuals, and extensions.
Manage budgets, bidding strategies, keywords, placements, audiences, and remarketing.
Implement and test landing pages.
Conduct A/B tests to improve ad engagement, conversion rate, and quality score.
Analytics, Tracking & Reporting
Set up and validate conversion tracking on platforms including Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads, YouTube Analytics, Meta Pixel, and LinkedIn Analytics.
Build and maintain reporting dashboards such as Google Looker Studio to deliver clear insights and action plans.
Analyze search queries, auction insights, and funnel performance to inform iteration.
Collaboration & Communication
Report directly to the Brand Strategist; provide weekly performance summaries and monthly business reviews.
Partner with Web and Content teams to align SEO/SEM with site user interface/user experience, page load speed, and conversion rate optimization (CRO).
Familiarity with updating tasks and projects on internal CRM software (including Trello, Zoho, Asana, Monday.com, and/or ClickUp).
Educate clients on SEO/SEM best practices and evolving search trends.

Required Skills & Qualifications
1–3+ years hands-on SEO and SEM experience (agency experience a plus).
Proficiency with Google Ads, Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Pinterest Ads, Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, and Google Search Console (other ad platforms like Reddit or Bing a plus).
Working knowledge of keyword tools (SEMrush, SE Rankings, Ahrefs, AnswerThePublic, or another similar platform).
Experience building dashboards in Google Looker Studio (or equivalent reporting tools).
Comfortable with basic HTML/CSS and CMS platforms (WordPress required; Shopify/BigCommerce a plus).
Demonstrated success improving search rankings, site traffic, and/or paid media return-on-investment (ROI).
Preferred Experience
CRO and landing page testing (A/B tools such as Figma, Typeform, or HotJar).
Schema markup implementation and local SEO at scale (multi-location).
Feed management for Google Shopping, Merchant Center, and Performance Max campaigns.
Experience coordinating technical fixes with web designers and developers, including Core Web Vitals.

The position is based in our Worcester, MA headquarters.
Hybrid flexibility available after an initial onboarding period.
Occasional client meetings and presentations required.
