The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is a public education, clinical and research facility, and a world-class medical destination at the forefront of life-changing science, medicine, and healthcare. Established in 1993, the CU School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics Section of Nutrition focuses on nutrition and physical activity for infants and children, addressing obesity, undernutrition and micronutrient deficiencies. The section emphasizes climate effects on nutrition, health equity/disparities, food as medicine, precision nutrition, brain-gut mechanisms, obesity interventions, micronutrients, developmental origins of adult disease, early infant feeding, and drivers of eating behavior. In 2024, the section had over $24 million in research funding and offers a NIH-funded T32 program. The Medical Director is a core member of the SON Leadership team and will provide strategic and operational leadership for programs within the Section, with an emphasis on Obesity and related comorbidities, supporting the mission areas of the SON clinical programs, education, advocacy, advanced training and innovative research. The position reports to the Head of the Section of Nutrition and will work with the leadership team on strategic plan development and implementation as it relates to Pediatric Nutrition, with emphasis on obesity. Key Responsibilities
Conduct and support research programs and strategy Provide leadership on operational excellence of clinical programs, including development and implementation of new clinical programs/pathways, building quality improvement and research direction and projects Support educational programs across all levels of learners and trainees Develop and implement programs and activities on population health, community outreach, marketing, and advocacy as outlined in our strategic plan Enhance Section visibility locally, nationally, and internationally Partner with the faculty, allied providers, and Leadership team in the broader Lifestyle Medicine program to ensure optimal collaboration, participate as a leader in driving broader vision, mission, and growth of the Lifestyle Medicine program in Children\'s hospital Work Location

Minimum Qualifications: This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below: Assistant Professor
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree Board Eligible or Certified in General Pediatrics or Obesity-related subspecialty (e.g., Endocrinology or Gastroenterology) Minimum of two (2) years of experience in General Pediatrics OR obesity-related subspecialty Associate Professor
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree Board Eligible or Certified in General Pediatrics or Obesity-related subspecialty (e.g., Endocrinology or Gastroenterology) Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in General Pediatrics OR obesity-related subspecialty Preferred Qualifications: Three (3) or more years of experience supporting children and families with obesity in a clinical setting Demonstrated clinical experience working with vulnerable populations Board Certification in Obesity Medicine or Nutrition is a plus Experience with quality improvement is a plus Interest in collaborative research opportunities Experience with clinical leadership preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Understanding of the complexity of caring for children and families with obesity and comorbidities Commitment to continuing education related to standards of care Ability to teach and supervise trainees Familiar with components of obesity care including lifestyle intervention, obesity medications and bariatric surgery Sensitive to issues of bias and stigma related to obesity Interest in population health/community outreach related to healthy communities How to Apply
