Director of Accounting

Company Overview

Founded 20+ years ago, we are a financial technology company headquartered in the Greater Dallas area. Our team specializes in developing online financial products and services. We are continuing to grow and looking to add a Director of Accounting to the mixture. 

Position Overview
The Director of Accounting is responsible for overseeing the accounting operations of the organization, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing strategic leadership to the accounting team. This role involves managing financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls to support the organization's financial health and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP and SEC regulations.
  • Develop and implement internal controls to ensure compliance with SOX and other regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
  • Manage the ERP system to enhance financial reporting and improve operational efficiency.
  • Provide guidance on accounting policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency in financial reporting.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement in financial performance.
  • Work closely with external auditors during the annual audit process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master's degree or CPA is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance, and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably Dynamics, and financial reporting tools.
  • Proven track record in managing accounting operations in the financial services or banking sector.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
