Your Next Opportunity The Engineering Team Lead is an engineering management position responsible for providing technical engineering oversight and design team management for assigned projects. This role includes financial, resource allocation, logistic and technical leadership of projects, with the ability to mentor and train staff under supervision.
What You’ll Do
Specialize in Medium Voltage customer substation design
Interface with Bay Area Utilities, incorporating utility requirements, interconnect agreements & service requests
Understand project requirements and develop a design fee for the work requested
Prepare and oversee work plans for engineering and production resources
Oversee Engineers, Designers and Modeling staff assigned to team or project work
Communicate with Project Manager or Executive regarding effort required to accomplish deliverables, including requests for additional services
Lead the Engineering CAC effort and interaction with the project PM
Resolve complex problems (e.g., conflicting design requirements, materials suitability, coordination)
Coordinate with city, state, and county officials and other regulatory agencies
Attend project design meetings with the Design Build Team
Perform Job Site Visits to review installation or assess conditions
Perform Value Engineering studies
Act as Engineer of Record for projects within responsibility
Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned within the business unit
What You Bring To Us
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college in engineering, architectural engineering, or construction sciences
Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of engineering experience
Registration as a licensed US-based Professional Engineer (P.E.) is required
BESS experience is preferred
Field experience is strongly recommended
Education and experience can be a combination of education, training, and relevant experience

Teamwork – Ability to work with a diverse group to deliver results
What You’ll Need To Be Successful
Knowledge of engineering processes and calculations including load calculations, equipment layout, HV/MV distribution, lighting layout, utility coordination, grounding, value engineering, applicable codes, and standards
Working knowledge of equipment and system testing and commissioning
Ability to assume responsibility and coordinate with others
Ability to analyze and resolve complex engineering problems
Ability to oversee Electrical System Studies such as Short Circuit, Overcurrent Protection, Arc Flash, Voltage Drop/Droop, and Underground Thermal Calculations
Management skills including work planning, resource management, fee development, staff oversight and development
Knowledge of electrical construction to understand how design packages will be built
Fluency with Building Codes and Local Codes in project locations
Proficiency with computer software and Microsoft Office; Oracle preferred
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under changing requirements
Self-motivation, initiative, and effective teamwork
Professional interaction with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and partners
Travel
Up to 25% travel (local field visits not included)
Working Conditions
General indoor work environment with varying conditions; may include job sites with higher noise levels
Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs
