Location: Boston, MA Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid) Our client is hiring a Tax Manager in Boston, MA. This hybrid role oversees income tax provisions under GAAP (ASC 740) and statutory accounting (SSAP 101), manages federal tax compliance, and supports GAAP and statutory audits. You will contribute to IRS audits, tax planning, M&A, and capital projects while collaborating with stakeholders and auditors in the insurance and financial services sector. Responsibilities
Tax Provisions:
Prepare and review income tax provisions in compliance with GAAP (ASC 740) and statutory requirements (SSAP 101). Federal Compliance:
Manage federal tax filings for domestic life insurance and non-insurance subsidiaries. Audit Support:
Lead support for GAAP and statutory audits, collaborating closely with external auditors. IRS & Regulatory:
Assist with IRS audits, prepare supporting documentation, and ensure regulatory compliance. Tax Planning:
Contribute to planning strategies, M&A transactions, legislative impact modeling, and capital planning initiatives. Technical Research:
Conduct research and prepare documentation of tax positions, conclusions, and recommendations. Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required (MST preferred). Experience:
5+ years of tax accounting experience focused on corporate tax, GAAP (ASC 740), and statutory accounting (SSAP 101). Certification:
CPA designation strongly preferred. Technical Skills:
Proficient in tax compliance software, GL systems, and research platforms, with advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills. Industry Knowledge:
Experience in insurance tax accounting strongly preferred, with exposure to financial services environments. Skills & Attributes:
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with effective communication and collaboration abilities.
