The Behavioral Health Urgent Care RN (BHUC RN) works in a fast-paced environment,providing care for individuals identified to be experiencing a mental health crisis requiring immediate attention. The RN assesses patients' mental and physical health, manages medications, conducts crisis interventions, and educates patients and families. BHUC RN also collaborates with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans. Duties and Competencies

Nursing Assessments: Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments of individual's mental health and substance use needs, including physical health assessments (PHR). Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized care plans, often in collaboration with apsychiatric prescriberorphysician. Medication Management: Administer medications prescribed by MCMHA prescriber/psychiatrist, monitor patient responses, and document any adverse reactions. Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about medications, treatment plans, and coping strategies. Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate support and intervention during mental health crises. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, social workers, clinicians and peer support specialist to ensure comprehensive care. Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records. Safety: Ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. The schedule for this position is Mon-Fri 11:00am-7:30pm.

REQUIREMENTS

Must be willing and able to work irregular work hours, holidays and weekends. Education, Training and Licensing Credentials:

Registered Nurse with requisite licensure by the State of Michigan and education equivalent to a four-year degree preferred. One (1) year of work experience with adults and children with mental illness and/or developmental disabilities. Experience in treatment of individuals with mental illness and persons with developmental disabilities required. Experience with multi-disciplinary treatment teams required. Computer skills required. Experienced in reviewing and analyzing electronic data preferred. Ability to work with a wide variety of professional staff and other agencies in an outcome data-based manner is an integral part of the job responsibilities.

Requires training in CPI and BLS. Other Competencies and Abilities:

Knowledge of professional psychiatric nursing theory and practices. Knowledge of a range of behavioral health clinical treatments. Knowledge and ability to work with agitated patients in crisis and their families to implement behavioral management interventions. Knowledge of the clinical care process (screening, assessment, treatment planning, case management and continuing care). Knowledge of clinical assessment principles and practices. Knowledge of the Michigan Mental Health Code and related rules and regulations. Ability to collect, maintain, and evaluate client data. Ability to administer medications and implement treatment plans. Ability to work directly or indirectly with a range of mentally and/or developmentally disabled clients. Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.

Ability to work in a complex, detail-oriented, deadline structured busy organization. The following physical and mental abilities are required: frequent lifting or carrying up to 15 pounds, must be able to hear, frequent standing/walking going up and down stairs due to community outreach basis, ability to communicate effectively in person and/or phone, the ability to read, analyze and interpret information, ability to write reports, correspondence and procedures, ability to maintain consumer charts/records, ability to define and solve practical problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions, ability to influence others, and the ability to conduct patient assessments and treatment. Demonstrated proficiency in MS Outlook, MS Office, electronic health records (CRCT) and such other applications if/when required. Ability to be trained and successfully complete other computer training as required. Valid driver's license, proof of current automobile insurance and driving record determined by the Authority's insurance carrier to be eligible for coverage if required as part of positions duties.
