MAINTENANCE CUSTODIAN
The Full-Time Maintenance position is a full time IMRF eligible position. The position is responsible for maintaining and cleaning the inside and outside property of the Racquet, Fitness and Gymnastics Center. The work schedule for this position is 2:00-10:00pm Tuesday through Friday and day time hours on Saturdays. There may be flexibility for slight shift in hours upon hire.

ABOUT US
The Oak Lawn Park District, incorporated in 1944, has a long and proud history of serving the recreational needs of our 56,000 residents with a myriad of recreational programs and services. We operate under the state tax cap as a municipal corporation, meaning we are our own taxing body. Overseen by a Board of five elected officials, the District manages a combination of 34 parks and facilities which cover over 280 acres. In addition, we manage a Special Recreation Cooperative that offers recreational programs and services to individuals with disabilities in 9 municipalities.
QUALIFICATIONS: - High School Graduate or equivalent
- Some custodial experience preferred - Knowledge of household and commercial appliances, cleaning supplies and tools - Must be able to lift 50 lbs. - Must be able to work independently - Must have decision making skills - Must be able to take initiative with tasks - Communication skills - Must be able to organize and prioritize duties and responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Order all maintenance supplies and equipment as necessary. - Cleans and washes floors, walls and windows - Cleans restrooms and replenishes supplies - Empties waste and other trash - Move and clean weight room machines and equipment - Change light bulbs and fuses, including lights on tennis courts with use of powered lift. - Acts as watchman when necessary - Submits reports of work performed - Set up and take down of wallyball nets, tables and chairs - Clean all play courts and surrounding areas - Report need for building or equipment repairs - Wash windows, chairs, counter tops, woodwork, carpet, walls - Perform special maintenance tasks/projects as needed.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: - Must work closely with others. - Must work around general public and patrons of the facility. - Will be exposed to chemicals such as cleaning supplies, weed killers, oil. - Must be able to follow directions from supervisor. - Must be able to use good safety awareness and judgment at all times. - Resolve issues and problems with good judgment and in best interests - Report damaged and hazardous materials or situations
PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS: - Must be able to work 40 hours per week - Must be able to lift 50 lbs - Must be able to stand, move and perform labor activities for long periods of time
PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS: - Must be able to work alone or in crowded areas - Able to multi-task and prioritize tasks - Must be able to communicate with staff and patrons in a friendly professional manner - Able to use good judgment in the absence of supervision - Must be able to use good common sense and safety when using tools and performing work
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS: - Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in cold or hot temperatures - Work may be repetitive such as painting, vacuuming. - May be exposed to hazardous materials such as paint fumes, cleaning fumes and chemicals all of which should be handle responsibly and with care
COGNITIVE CONSIDERATIONS: - Must be able to follow instructions and give instructions to part time maintenance - Able to communicate verbally and in writing
