Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care, performing dental cleanings, and assisting in various dental procedures. This position requires excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of dental terminology, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and document medical histories, vital signs, and any relevant information.
- Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth while ensuring patient comfort.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and the importance of preventive care.
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for patient management and documentation review.
- Ensure infection control protocols are followed, including aseptic techniques and proper sterilization of instruments.
- Provide chairside assistance during various dental procedures, including pediatric dentistry.
- Stay updated on medical terminology and coding to facilitate accurate billing processes.
Qualifications
- Valid Dental Hygienist license in accordance with state regulations.
- Experience in a dental office or clinic setting is preferred; familiarity with EMR systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control practices.
- Proficient in medical imaging techniques relevant to dentistry.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with patients of all ages, particularly children in pediatric settings.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
