Position Summary:

Kelly Engineering Services is seeking a Software Test Engineer to support the client’s medical device manufacturing operations and its contract manufacturing partners. This role involves developing, validating, and maintaining both automated and manual test processes, equipment, and software in a production environment.

Test Engineering Supervisor

Key Responsibilities:

The following duties are representative of the position but not intended to be all-inclusive.

  • Participate in all aspects of production test development including planning, test specifications, procedures, software development, fixture/tool development, and test implementation.
  • Contribute to the definition, development, and execution of board, module, and system-level tests at the client site and supplier facilities.
  • Optimize test strategies and solutions for the manufacture of electromechanical assemblies and medical devices.
  • Conduct and participate in technical design reviews.
  • Document, validate, and maintain test systems, fixtures, and software used in production, service, and by subcontractors.
  • Create, implement, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate and improve test processes.
  • Perform data analysis and trending of test results to drive process improvements.
  • Participate in root cause failure analysis investigations.
  • Contribute to Design for Test (DFT) reviews during engineering changes or new product development.
  • Collaborate with quality teams and contract manufacturers to identify and resolve sources of defects.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 1+ year of experience in a manufacturing test engineering role (or equivalent)
  • Experience with software/process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) is highly desirable
  • Proficient in scripting or programming for manual and automated test applications
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and troubleshoot circuits
  • Familiar with standard electrical test equipment (DMM, oscilloscope, function generator, etc.)
  • Medical device manufacturing experience is a plus
  • Working knowledge of FDA QSRs, ISO 13485, and IEC 60601 standards is a plus
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills
  • Self-motivated and results-driven

Language & Communication Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications, technical procedures, and regulatory documentation
  • Proficient in writing technical reports, test specifications, and procedures
  • Able to effectively present information to managers, clients, and cross-functional teams
  • Capable of clearly conveying project status, issues, and results

Mathematical & Analytical Skills:

  • Proficient in applying concepts of probability, statistics, geometry, and trigonometry
  • Ability to perform calculations and data interpretation using Microsoft Excel
  • Skilled in defining problems, collecting and analyzing data, and drawing valid conclusions
  • Comfortable interpreting technical instructions and handling both abstract and concrete variables

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds for short periods
  • May require standing and walking for extended periods
  • Daily use of keyboard and computer systems
  • Visual acuity required for close vision work

Work Environment:

  • Office and light manufacturing environment
  • Moderate noise levels typical of office and production settings
  • Occasional exposure to light machining noise and debris (e.g., from power tools or prototyping)
