Overview
AbbVie is seeking a field-based role. Candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience.
Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, drive sales performance, effectively manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships and customer needs solving capability to maximize short and long term sales performance, placing the patient at the center of any efforts and operating within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies and all applicable laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed targets.
Create pre-call plan objectives and execute post-call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance. Effectively handle objections, misunderstandings, concerns and consistently gain agreement to action during calls.
Proactively serve customer needs, expectations and challenges to build trusted customer relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market dynamics, accounts, disease states, product, clinical and sales expertise and share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team and sales manager to achieve alignment and optimize brand strategy.
Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience.
Relevant and equivalent industry experience required; in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, at least five (5) years of experience with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge. Strong business acumen and proficiency with business tools; strategic and critical thinking capabilities.
Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approach accordingly; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
Proven track record of success in selling with solid presentation skills. Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment; provides innovative ideas to maximize business opportunities.
Influences others and is a credible role model; builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams.
Leads by example; demonstrates positive behaviors and peer coaching in changing environments. Documented leadership experience at district/region levels.
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen; meet safe driving requirements.
Ability to travel to cover territory, including overnight training and sales meetings.
Preferred: Proven sales success in respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care or marketing is a plus. English language proficiency.
HCIR credentialing requirements to enter facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
Note: HCIR requirements may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses. The employee is responsible for satisfying all requirements.

External: Specialty physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and others depending on brand plan. Internal: In-field team members, Sales Management, Marketing Management, Training, Customer Excellence, and Brand Plan stakeholders.
Additional Information
The compensation range is the range of possible base pay for this role; actual compensation will depend on location and other factors and may be modified in the future.

This role may be eligible to participate in short-term and long-term incentive programs.
