Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team. The HR Manager oversees the Human Resources responsibilities for the construction team and will be responsible for leading and managing HR programs, processes and projects as appropriate. This role identifies, develops and deploys business-driven HR strategies designed to attract, manage, develop, motivate and retain talent while creating a high-performance, sustainable organization capable of achieving the business objectives and action plans.
The HR Manager will oversee all aspects of HR for the construction team and work with other HR resources across the organization to partner on projects, while ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations. This role requires a blend of HR expertise and an understanding of the construction business to effectively support recruitment, employee relations, and serve as the HR primary point of contact for this team.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business objectives focused on the construction business.
- Engage in proactive positive employee relations strategies and initiatives; drive activities to promote engagement with employees at all levels.
- Partner with the recruiting team and hiring managers to understand job requirements, create accurate job descriptions, determine sourcing channels, and support headcount, onboarding and succession plans.
- Work closely with construction team leaders and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity, performance and retention.
- Own HR metrics, track, report and analyze data; ensure accurate people data via regular auditing of relevant HRIS systems.
- Provide leadership guidance and mentoring. Develop and implement solutions to organizational challenges by developing training plans and coaching others.
- Strengthen employee retention and engagement through establishing and coordinating standard onboarding and orientation processes with integrated efforts from various stakeholders.
- Implement talent management programs to identify and develop high-potential employees.
- Lead and provide guidance and support to managers on employee relations issues.
- Ensure compliance with applicable labor laws and regulations.
- Administer performance management programs to drive employee engagement and productivity.
- Oversee compensation and reward programs, including salary planning, bonus programs, and employee recognition initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR business partner role (preferred 8 years), with a minimum of 2 years as an HR Manager (Preferred 4 years).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting a construction team or remote industrial workforce.
- In-depth knowledge of recruiting practices, talent management, performance management, and employee relations.
- Experience with HRIS systems such as SAP, Workday, Oracle, Paycom or UKG (preferred UKG).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with employees at all levels and build effective relationships.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to addressing HR issues.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Ability to travel up to 50% as required to support the construction team members across various locations.
