30 hours/week Monday to Friday

We are looking for an experienced Medical Secretary to join our busy team.

The successful candidate will be keen to learn and develop, with strong IT, customer service, admin, communication and organisational skills. Experience of working in a GP Practice is essential. Experience using SystmOne clinical system is essential.

Salary is dependent on experience and skills.

Main duties of the job

Duties will include but not be exclusive to:

  • To type letters, reports and other documents as required by the partners, Practice manager and other team members
  • To process referrals using the e-RS system or other pathways as appropriate
  • To ensure that all referral letters are typed and sent within 48 hours (routine appointments) and 24 hours (2WW and urgent). Make hospital appointments for patients via e-referral system
  • To deal with all non-NHS requests including insurance and solicitors queries, in line with agreed policies and best practice
  • To attend meetings and take minutes when required
  • To deal with the Electronic Document Interchange Links
  • To summarise Notes
  • To help with matching letters and readcoding when required
  • To deal with recalls
  • To deal with any administrative and secretarial work as instructed by the GPs & Manager

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Good standard of general education
  • GCSE Mathematics - grade A to C
  • GCSE English - grade A to C
  • Word Processing/Information Technology/MS Office
  • Business Admin NVQ qualification

Experience

  • Practical experience of working with others
  • Experience of using own initiative
  • Practical experience of computerised recording systems (SystmOne)
