Overview
The Human Resource Generalist supports the HR department’s daily operations and strategic initiatives. This role spans recruitment, on-boarding, compliance, benefits administration, employee relations, and HR communications. The HR Generalist also provides administrative and operational support, ensuring continuity and efficiency across HR and office functions. This position serves as a key point of contact for employees and visitors and contributes to a positive and compliant workplace culture. This position would be working in either our Waco or Irving office with travel between the two.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Human Resources Generalist manages recruitment and on-boarding. This includes full-cycle recruitment, new-hire orientations, and ensuring smooth transitions for new employees.
- This role updates employee records in HRIS systems, maintaining data integrity and compliance. The Generalist helps with audits and prepares documentation for compliance.
- Benefits administration is key, including working with vendors, handling benefit programs, and managing open enrollments for 401(k), health, and life insurance. The Generalist audits benefit invoices for accuracy.
- The role guides employee relations and conflict resolutions to support a positive workplace. The Generalist also assists in training and development.
- Preparing HR documents like offer letters and policy updates is ongoing. The Generalist communicates updates and policy changes to employees.
- Administrative tasks include greeting visitors and callers, managing calendars, scheduling meetings, maintaining supplies, and requesting maintenance. The Generalist helps organize events and team building and improves office processes for efficiency.
- A key duty is answering questions from managers and employees about PTO, vacation, banking, garnishments, employment verification, workers’ comp, retro pay, tax issues, and other HR matters. The Generalist oversees VAC/PTO, FMLA, STD, and Workers’ Comp programs.
- This role oversees payroll processing, including special payrolls like bonuses, year-end adjustments, moving expenses, and disability payments. The Generalist monitors time and attendance for compliance.
- The Generalist compiles and submits required reports, including OSHA, EEO, Vets-100, and others. Coordination with the President is needed for legal and organizational records.
- The role leads HR process improvements to boost efficiency, using new and existing systems. The Generalist develops and maintains a paperless environment. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of HR or administrative experience required; 3+ years preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees across all levels.
- Proficient in writing reports, policies, and correspondence.
OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong command of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with HRIS systems; Salesforce required, Syteline preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
