General Maintenance Painter
The General Maintenance Painter is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks, including painting, minor repairs, and upkeep of facilities. Performs skilled painting work in the preparation, patching, finishing, and maintaining of interior and exterior surfaces (e.g., wood, plaster, drywall, steel, concrete, piping insulation, and brick), on all building structures, walls, woodwork, furniture, and equipment following recognized procedures and techniques of the painting trade and using paint brushes, rollers, and/or sprayers, sandpaper, sanders, steel wool, wire brushes, and related painting tools. The Painter also practices preventive maintenance of painting tools and equipment, and complies with federal regulations governing environmental protection, hazardous waste disposal and the use of chemical substances and materials common to the painting trade. Duties/Responsibilities: Work closely with Lead and Chief Engineer to keep him/her updated on the completion of daily repairs. Perform routine inspections of premises and equipment. Work collaboratively with other technicians and departments to achieve maintenance goals. Repair doors, locks, windows, fixtures, and other structures. Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, filters, and other minor components. Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner. Assist with moving furniture, setting up rooms, and maintaining clean and safe environments. Painting Duties: Work closely with Lead and Chief Engineer to keep him/her updated on the completion of daily repairs. Prepare surfaces for painting by scraping, sanding, patching, and priming. Apply paint, stain, varnish, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, or sprayers. Select and mix paints to match colors and finishes. Maintain and clean painting tools and equipment. Touch up paint on walls, ceilings, doors, trims, and other surfaces as needed. Qualifications
Skills/Abilities: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to apply basic mathematical skills. Must possess good verbal and written skills. Ability to manage a wide variety of activities at the same time. Ability to lift heavy items, climb ladders, and work on feet for extended periods. Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed. Additional duties as assigned. Education/Experience: High School or equivalent education. Proven experience as a painter and general maintenance technician. Knowledge of painting techniques, commercial sprayers, power tools, and surface preparation. Familiarity with hand and power tools. Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems is a plus. Valid driver's license. Must be able to pass a background check. Physical Requirements: Must be able to physically reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 100 pounds. Must be able to work under variable temperature conditions (extreme heat or cold, indoors/outdoors). Must be able to climb ladders up to 30 feet. Must be able to work around chemicals, dust, fumes and/or odor hazards. Regularly works in outdoor weather conditions and may face the risk of electrical shock or encounter fumes or airborne pathogens.
