Schedule: Monday - Friday, 5:00am - ending when the route is complete (generally 8-11 hour days)

As a driver, you will collect solid waste using an Automated truck and transport it to designated disposal sites. The position demands independence and excellent customer service delivery at all times. You will receive cross-training in Automated Side Load Garbage Trucks, Front Load Garbage Trucks, and Roll Off Trucks.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safely operate a garbage truck on specified routes to collect solid waste.
- Read route sheets and service each customer as assigned by the dispatcher.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on vehicles such as checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
- Load and unload waste, ensuring all enclosure gates are closed as necessary, often without helpers.
- Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift/load refuse and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
- Clean up areas around accidental waste spills.
- Complete daily reports on pre and post-trip inspections of equipment;
- Fuel vehicle daily.
- Maintain the physical appearance of the equipment, including routine washing.
- Monitor over and under-filled carts/containers to assess changing service requirements;
- Assess the condition and repair needs of existing carts/containers;
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
- Interact courteously with our customers and perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
- Extensive physical activity; requires heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects over 50 pounds.
- Ability to mount and dismount the truck multiple times every day while on route.
- Work environment involves some exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts, necessitating adherence to basic safety precautions.
- Exposure to outside weather, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, as well as fumes and vibrations. Noise level is usually moderate.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Class A or B CDL license with air brake endorsement.
- Clean Driving Record.
- Pass Criminal Background Check and Drug Panel Screening.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance.
- Minimum 1 year of experience related to the specified duties and responsibilities.
- Working knowledge of D.O.T. laws.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend reports to complete daily assignments in English.
