Position Summary Responsible for providing direct patient clinical care and managing medical problems of acutely ill, hospitalized pediatric patients. The Pediatric Hospitalist is part of the interdisciplinary team to improve efficiency and facilitate continuum of care from admission to discharge. This includes general pediatric medicine, consults as requested, and management of patients with various comorbidities.
Job Requirements Education/Experience:
Graduation from an accredited school of medicine. Completed an accredited three (3) year pediatric residency and board certified or board eligible.
Licensing/Certification Requirements:
Valid License by the State of Nevada to practice medicine. State of Nevada Pharmacy Board License to Prescribe Medications and DEA Controlled Substances Registration Certificate. Some positions may require one or more of the following certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Additional Position Requirements:
Board Eligible for Pediatric Hospital Medicine.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, And Physical Requirements:
Knowledge of pediatric care, equipment, supplies and practices; applicable laws, regulations and standards; patient rights; infection control; and related hospital practices. Skills include effective medical care, care planning, decision making under stress, and communication with diverse groups. Physical requirements include mobility in a clinical setting, vision/hearing for patient care, and ability to handle standard equipment; reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting; stamina to remain focused; vision to read materials; hearing and speech to communicate; ability to move objects up to 10 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
