Description The Senior Director of Project Management is responsible for managing capital project delivery within a business unit in the MTA Construction and Development (C&D) Delivery Department. This position ensures project delivery is safe, efficient, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project documents, contractual requirements, and relevant policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines. The role monitors project status, mitigates risk, resolves issues, and coordinates with C&D and operating agency personnel. It manages staff, contractors, consultants, and agency forces to execute capital projects safely and efficiently. Responsibilities Manage and mentor staff to deliver complex capital projects. Coordinate project activities through project close-out. Monitor performance against baselines and pursue performance improvements. Identify issues and risks, ensure timely resolution and mitigation. Recommend solutions to senior management for critical issues. Minimize impact on agency operations and the public. Coordinate with project teams, C&D staff, contractors, consultants, and operating agency staff and stakeholders. Ensure actions, approvals, and resources are in place to support delivery. Adhere to established requirements, standards, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures; prioritize safety and quality in all project operations. Manage project documentation quality, completeness, and accuracy. Monitor scope, schedule, and budget; manage procurement with Development and Contracts teams. Review and approve contract invoices and charges; ensure expenditures are charged correctly. Oversee project document control and retention; prepare reports, presentations, and studies; coordinate audit/inquiry responses. Lead staff recruitment, coaching, training, development, evaluation, and personnel actions. Foster a professional environment that respects diversity and enables employee development. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction or Project Management, Business Administration, Transportation, or related field. Minimum of twelve (12) years of related experience. Minimum eight (8) years in managing construction programs/projects or supervisory roles in a large, multi-faceted organization. Desirable: Licensed Professional Engineer or Registered Architect; PMP and CCM certifications; significant experience with major construction projects and complex systems. Strong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a high-pressure, high-profile environment; focus on results and continuous improvement; leadership as a change agent.
