The Bradley Hospital and Gateway Health (EPB/GTW) Director of Quality and Safety reports to the Brown University Health Vice President of Quality & Safety with dotted line engagement with hospital CMO/CNO and the VP of GTW. Under general supervision and within Brown University Health established policies and procedures, this role develops, directs, coordinates, and evaluates the comprehensive care transformation activities leading to core measure performance, physician peer review and professional practice evaluation processes, and addressing patient safety events with corrective actions to enhance the culture of safety. The director will have administrative oversight for the development and implementation of the hospital’s quality, patient safety, patient experience, and performance improvement programs. The Director will lead hospital and Brown University Health leadership in building educational and improvement initiatives, monitoring performance metrics, and supporting patient safety, compliance, and accreditation efforts. The role also focuses on customer service and patient experience initiatives in collaboration with the Director of Human Experience, and aligns quality functions with the LCS strategy for quality and operational excellence. Responsibilities

Lead a highly skilled team of quality and patient experience specialists focused on meeting customer needs and exceeding expectations. Oversee and review selected quality issues and guide staff to lead investigations of critical events. Assist with clinical root cause analysis / FMEA projects and facilitate corrective action plans; provide feedback reports to staff and leadership. Support the development of reports submitted to regulatory and accrediting agencies (e.g., Department of Health, Joint Commission). Interface with Care Transformation, Quality and Safety and other quality initiatives across Brown University Health. Direct the effective utilization of resources to meet goals and establish departmental priorities aligned with organizational strategies. Oversee documentation peer review activity and facilitate Medical Staff and system department performance improvement activities. Serve as liaison to Medical Staff departments for quality improvement actions involving patient care and physician processes; promote communication of performance improvement information among Brown University Health and the Medical Staff. Provide leadership to site/system-wide improvement teams using performance improvement methodologies. Manage clinical and patient safety data needs and lead improvement strategies; monitor performance metrics for diagnostic populations and communicate with internal/external customers. Aim to improve performance in core measures and other metrics; collaborate with hospital leaders on data-driven process improvements. Develop and implement patient experience initiatives and robust onboarding/training for quality functions; support “best-practice” patient-centric models. Act as an expert resource for leaders, staff, and providers on patient relationship development and clinical quality outcomes measurement. Promote communication and performance improvement information between Brown University Health and the Medical Staff; coach staff leading improvement teams. Identify and share best practices and tactics to improve performance; educate stakeholders on tactics and execution. Qualifications - Education:

A bachelor’s degree in nursing or a healthcare-related discipline is required. A master’s degree in a related healthcare field is required. Six Sigma Black Belt certification or equivalent experience leading performance improvement projects preferred. CPHQ, CPPS, or other quality certifications preferred. Qualifications - Experience:

A minimum of seven (7) years of related experience in quality measurement and reporting systems, oversight over physician peer review programs, and process evaluation and improvement. Strong knowledge of performance improvement systems and methods; effective project management skills; experience with electronic health record applications and Microsoft Office Suite; solid written/verbal communication, critical thinking, and analytical skills. Must have the ability to collaborate and lead project teams. Supervision: Supervisory responsibilities for up to twenty professional and support staff, including selection, direction, and evaluation of work. Additional Job Details
