The
Data Scientist
will support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) - Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE), Enforcement & Removal Operations (ERO), Law Enforcement Systems & Analysis (LESA) division and be responsible for developing ERO strategies to enhance its business procedures continuously. The Data Scientist provides advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and decision support expertise to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Law Enforcement Systems and Analysis (LESA) Division. This role supports the development, maintenance, and accreditation of analytical models and decision support tools, enhances forecasting and reporting capabilities, and delivers strategic recommendations to improve operational efficiency across ERO headquarters and field operations. Responsibilities Conduct advanced analytics, modeling, and forecasting related to immigration and law enforcement activities Conduct research and prepare management, organizational and business analyses and forecasts Larger, more complex or technically advanced projects, and may be responsible for tasks among multiple projects Conceptualize, plan, design, and develop deep learning and artificial intelligence algorithms for multi-objective optimization and decision-making tools focused on solving resource allocation and prioritization problems Lead and independently execute complex projects and mission-critical tasks using federal government categorical data from flat files, data warehouses, and external sources Apply appropriate methods in order to mathematically formulate and examine statistical associations between variables within a data set using R or Python Produce executive level summary reports/briefings of algorithm results using RMarkdown or Jupyter Notebook May be responsible for leading less experienced analysts Utilize MS Access to perform queries and analyses Utilize MS Excel to perform analyses to produce reports Utilize MS PowerPoint to produce reports Utilize MS Word to produce reports Utilize R (COT statistical analysis program) to perform analyses Requirements Must be a U.S. Citizen.
