Senior Software Tools Engineer
with a Python focus, where you will create and maintain advanced tools, frameworks, and systems that support the future of electric adventure vehicles across Rivian and VW Group Technology. Responsibilities Own Diagnostics Tooling, supporting Rivian and VW Group brand needs. Design, implement, and maintain robust Python-based software. Support vehicle systems test by leveraging and improving automation test frameworks. Develop novel solutions for distributed systems, software libraries, APIs and cloud. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. 5+ years of industry experience in software tools development, automation, or a related field. Demonstrated expertise in Python programming with a focus on developing scalable tools and systems. A deep understanding of UDS including services, security access, NRCs and DTCs. Proficiency in SDLC best practices, version control (e.g., Git), embedded systems, object-oriented programming. Experience with automotive systems or HIL testing environments. Have deployed at least one application, service, or system to production. Strong inclination toward automation-first solutions and optimizing workflows. Excellent problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing inefficiencies. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Pay Disclosure
Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Palo Alto Based Applicants: $146,900 – $194,610 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law). Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Irvine Based Applicants: $135,100 – $179,040 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
