Commercial Real Estate Property Accountant
at Soni to manage day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties. The role requires a solid understanding of real estate accounting principles, CAM reconciliations, and financial reporting. You will work with property managers, leasing agents, and the finance team to ensure accuracy of financial records and reports. Responsibilities
Maintain general ledger and prepare monthly financial statements for assigned properties. Record and reconcile tenant billings, including rent, CAM (Common Area Maintenance), real estate taxes, insurance, and utilities. Perform monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies. Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries. Perform monthly close process including variance analysis against budget and prior year. Prepare annual CAM reconciliations and assist in the preparation of tenant billing adjustments. Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes for each property. Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding tenant payments. Work with property managers to understand property-level financial issues and performance. Coordinate with external auditors, tax preparers, and other stakeholders as needed. Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 2–5 years of property accounting experience, preferably in commercial real estate. Strong understanding of accrual-based accounting and GAAP. Experience with CAM reconciliations and property-level financial reporting. Proficiency in accounting software such as Yardi, MRI, RealPage, or similar. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Preferred Skills
CPA or progress toward certification. Experience with lease abstracting and interpreting lease clauses. Compensation
