Senior Tax Analyst
to join their team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in fiduciary filings, estate taxes and generation skipping taxes (GST), have a Bachelor's degree in accounting and a CPA or Enrolled Agent designation. The Senior Tax Analyst role is an onsite position and is a client direct hire position. Senior Tax Analyst Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Review: Review individual, non-profit, trust, estate, and Generation Skipping Transfer (GST) tax returns for accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws. Tax Compliance & Review: Analyze and recommend estimated tax payments to minimize penalties while aligning with departmental standards. Tax Compliance & Review: Prepare General Excise Tax (GET) and Transient Accommodations Tax (TAT) filings for all applicable reporting periods (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual). Engagement Management: Maintain accurate engagement records, including time tracking, due date monitoring, account setup, and closures. Engagement Management: Communicate progress updates, challenges, and resolution strategies to supervisors in a timely and professional manner. Engagement Management: Coordinate with vendors, internal teams, and external clients to support project execution and meet engagement milestones. Engagement Management: Interact with the IRS and state/local tax authorities to resolve tax issues and foster professional relationships. Engagement Management: Draft clear, well-organized memos and correspondence to document tax positions and communicate findings. Engagement Management: Leverage tax software and internal platforms (e.g., OneSource, Trust Tax Engine, HDOT) to enhance workflow efficiency and accuracy. Engagement Management: Conduct tax research using reliable sources, documenting findings and conclusions in a clear, well-supported manner. Tax Consulting & Planning: Deliver timely and accurate tax consulting services under supervision. Tax Consulting & Planning: Apply knowledge of federal and state tax regulations to client-specific situations, identifying opportunities for tax optimization. Tax Consulting & Planning: Stay informed on technical tax developments, including Nonresident Alien (NRA) taxation, GST rules, and estate tax filings (e.g., Form 706). Tax Consulting & Planning: Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned. Senior Tax Analyst Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited institution, or equivalent relevant work experience required CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation required Master’s degree in Taxation or MBA strongly preferred Experience
Minimum of 4 years of relevant tax experience, or 3 years with a Master’s in Taxation Strong understanding of income tax provisions and tax compliance Prior experience in the retirement, investment, or financial services industry preferred Technical Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other standard business software in a networked environment Experience with tax preparation software and financial/banking systems preferred Strong aptitude for working with relational databases, spreadsheets, and data analysis tools Additional Qualifications
