AGBO
AGBO is an artist-led, Academy Award–winning independent studio redefining global storytelling across film, television, and gaming. With 15 #1 openings and more than $7 billion at the box office, its hits include Marvel’s highest-grossing film Avengers: Endgame, the multi-Oscar-winning Everything Everywhere All at Once, and Netflix blockbusters The Gray Man and Extraction.
AGBO is seeking a Technical Artist with a passion for creating powerful pipelines, supporting visual development, and bridging the gap between art and engineering. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of aesthetics and systems, and who enjoys building tools and workflows that empower artists to do their best work.
The Technical Artist will serve as a cross-functional liaison, collaborating with internal content creators, external partners, and engineers to help streamline asset pipelines—from environments and props to characters. This position requires a balance of technical fluency, artistic sensibility, and clear communication, along with a willingness to adapt to an evolving toolchain and creative process.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with artists, engineers, and designers to define and maintain asset pipelines across multiple content categories (environment, character, asset).
Help build and maintain workflows that are efficient, scalable, and artist-friendly, with an eye toward visual fidelity and performance.
Act as a bridge between departments, identifying technical needs and offering creative solutions during production.
Support asset integration and optimization, ensuring smooth import/export processes and in-engine implementation.
Collaborate on tooling, automation, and documentation to support a flexible and efficient art pipeline.
Troubleshoot asset-related issues and help diagnose performance, rendering, or compatibility concerns.
Diagnose performance and tooling/automation opportunities across various disciplines and deploy solutions to improve workflows and efficiency.
Create and refine materials in Unreal Engine to support visual development, prototyping, and in-game implementation of art direction.
Participate in early development R&D, experimenting with both conventional and emerging tools.
Qualifications & Skills:
3–6 years of professional experience as a Technical Artist in games, interactive media, or related creative technology fields.
Strong experience with Unreal.
Proficiency in at least one major 3D content creation suite (e.g., Maya, Blender, Houdini) and a 2D package (e.g., Adobe Photoshop).
Strong working knowledge of asset pipeline concepts and challenges—LOD generation, texture streaming, rigging, import/export workflows, etc.
Familiarity with scripting or tool development (Python, MEL, or equivalent) for automating and customizing workflows.
Experience with PCG techniques to support scalable world-building, level design, or asset creation, with an understanding of balancing automation and artistic control.
A collaborative mindset and the ability to communicate clearly across technical and artistic disciplines.
Comfortable working in early-stage development environments, where pipelines are fluid and creative input is welcome.
Demonstrated ability to execute high-quality technical and visual solutions with minimal oversight.
Passion for supporting artists and problem-solving with empathy and creativity.
