Biotech Team Builder | Client Solutions Director | SHRM-CP | SHRM-SCP We're working with a biotechnology company applying cutting-edge science and technology to design the next generation of best-in-class complex biologics for major medical needs. Leveraging a dedicated in-house team of scientific experts in antibody development, this team identifies novel therapeutic concepts with the potential to be best-in-class, rapidly designs and advances them through preclinical proof-of-concept, and supports the strategic creation and launch of partner companies that drive clinical development. To date they have generated multiple therapeutic candidates, eleven of which are being advanced in clinical development by several successful partner companies.
The Patent Agent/Patent Attorney will play a key role in protecting innovations by drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting due diligence, and performing patent searching and analyses. This position will work closely with internal R&D teams, the legal department, and outside counsel to ensure a strong and strategic IP portfolio. Primary responsibilities include:

Build, execute, and manage a global IP strategy, including developing and growing a worldwide patent portfolio, identifying and mitigating third-party IP risks, and efficiently overseeing outside counsel.
Partner with corporate and business development teams to support collaborations, conduct IP due diligence, evaluate competitive landscapes, and manage IP licensing efforts.
Provide substantive support with the preparation of patentability, validity, freedom to operate, infringement opinions, and other complex research and analysis.
Advise and educate scientists and leadership on IP and legal considerations, fostering a culture of innovation and compliance.
Enhance IP infrastructure and management as needed to manage growth and operational efficiencies.
Lead brand protection efforts by collaborating with stakeholders to design and execute trademark strategies.
Qualifications
Required: Ph.D. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or related field (experience with biologics, especially therapeutic antibodies, is highly desirable).
Required: Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Required: Juris Doctor (for attorney candidates).
Required: At least 4 years of hands-on IP experience, including patent drafting, prosecution, opinion work, and strategic portfolio development; prior exposure to both law firm and in-house environments strongly preferred.
