This role is responsible for executing and refining the enterprise technology strategy while also contributing directly to design, programming, and operational reliability.
The ideal candidate will balance strategic architecture with hands-on development, cloud engineering, and DevSecOps delivery, ensuring systems are secure, scalable, resilient, and production-ready.
Job Purpose
ALKEME is seeking a hands-on Enterprise Architect who combines deep expertise in application and data architecture with strong leadership in DevSecOps and Cloud Engineering practices. Key Responsibilities
Define and maintain the enterprise architecture roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Establish governance, reference architectures, and standards across applications, integrations, and data domains. Drive cloud adoption, modernization, and digital transformation initiatives. Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies, ensuring innovation while maintaining security and compliance. Design data models, APIs, and integration frameworks to support enterprise-scale solutions. Contribute to proof-of-concepts, prototypes, and reference implementations, including coding when appropriate. Collaborate with development teams to enforce coding standards, reusable patterns, and best practices. Guide application modernization efforts, including microservices, containers, and cloud-native architectures. Lead adoption of DevSecOps practices across the enterprise, embedding security into CI/CD pipelines. Drive cloud engineering initiatives to optimize performance, cost, and scalability across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. Define and enforce SLA/SLO/SLI frameworks for application reliability and performance. Implement observability solutions (logging, tracing, monitoring, alerting) to ensure visibility across systems. Partner with engineering and operations teams to enable infrastructure-as-code, automated deployments, and policy-as-code. Conduct threat modeling, security reviews, and vulnerability management in alignment with enterprise standards. Lead incident response and post-incident analysis to continuously improve security, reliability, and performance. Act as a strategic advisor to executives and stakeholders, translating business needs into technical roadmaps. Mentor architects, engineers, and developers on architecture, DevSecOps, cloud engineering, and secure development practices. Partner with security, compliance, and risk management teams to align architecture with governance frameworks. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). 10+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, application design, or systems engineering. Strong programming skills (e.g., Java, Python, C#, or Node.js). Expertise with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid architectures. Deep experience in DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, and secure coding. Proven background in cloud engineering (infrastructure design, optimization, cost management, automation). Proficiency in Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK, etc.). Proven track record in data architecture, integration, and governance. Strong knowledge of security frameworks, compliance standards, and identity/access management. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, etc.). Experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka, Pulsar, etc.). Background in regulated industries such as finance, insurance, or healthcare. Excellent communication skills with ability to bridge business and technical discussions. Working Conditions
