Base pay range: $90,041.00/yr - $123,595.00/yr

As an Academic Dean at Achievement First, you will be at the center of this work—coaching our teachers and driving decisions that will benefit our scholars. Here, you will be the driver of high quality coaching instruction that enables teachers to develop and deliver strong content and to help our scholars develop a lifelong love of learning. You will work with teachers to be your students’ champion who believes all students are capable of greatness. You will be a demander of excellence for yourself, your teachers and your students, an educator who helps create a vibrant school community where students have the type of powerful school experience that fosters their best and most thoughtful work.

Responsibilities

Coaching and developing staff to achieve excellent student outcomes, including analyzing school-wide data to design responsive student interventions.

Developing highly effective instructional curriculum and schedules in collaboration with the principal and Network Support Office teams.

Observing lessons regularly and delivering targeted feedback to teachers.

Collaborating with grade/subject teams to plan units, lessons and assessments, and regularly sharing feedback.

Assisting teachers to devise and monitor high-impact student support plans.

Modeling outstanding instruction for teachers.

Professional Development

Coordinating and managing creative, inspiring professional development sessions aligned with school goals and priorities.

Directing interim assessment processes to ensure data-driven instruction and facilitating regular interim data debriefs.

Leading staff trainings at key times (start/end of year and professional development days).

School Leadership

Being an active member of the school leadership team, analyzing school-wide data to inform interventions and tracking key academic metrics.

Communicating progress to students, teachers and parents, and supporting the dean of students on behavior and school culture initiatives.

Assisting teacher leaders in developing leadership capabilities and fostering a collaborative school culture.

Growth mindset, openness to feedback, and ability to implement feedback quickly.

Mastery of and enthusiasm for the subject matter.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree; master’s degree preferred.

State-approved school leader certification; if not certified, ability to obtain required certification within two months of employment.

At least 3 years of K-12 full-time lead teaching experience with a record of high student achievement.

At least 1 year of experience coaching and leading adults to achieve high student outcomes.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive salary; salaries set with equity in mind, based on skills, education, and experience.

Dean salaries in NY range from $94,725-$123,595; CT/RI salaries from $90,041-$117,483.

Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and a 403(b) retirement plan with match, plus paid family leave.
