eSimplicity is seeking a Backend Engineer. The Backend Engineer will have the opportunity to work with our multifunctional product team as they build out a critical service offering for our government client. You will work collaboratively with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers to set up, develop, and maintain critical back-end integrations for the service offering. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who is passionate about modern backend systems, cloud-native design, and distributed architectures.
This role is contingent on award and successful MRPT clearance.
Responsibilities
Build, iterate, and test scalable, back-end services using Golang. Build and enhance systems using event-driven architecture (e.g. Kafka, SNS/SQS, EventBridge). Develop systems with high availability, scalability, and fault tolerance in mind hosted on AWS. Participate in Agile processes including daily standups, demos, retrospectives, and sprint planning. Work closely with designers and engineers to gather and implement product, front-end, and back-end requirements and make architecture decisions. Providing production support, on-call support, maintenance, and enhancements to the existing application. Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance in production and non-production environments. Requirements
Required Qualifications:
Two (2) years of professional experience in a related role. Must have related experience for government, as a contractor or government employee. Direct experience with the Department of State is a plus. Must be a United States citizen. Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance and currently reside in the United States. Proficiency in Golang and understanding of Golang best practices. Proficiency with AWS. Experience designing and deploying high availability systems on AWS. Experience using Gitlab and CI/CD platforms to deliver safe releases at a rapid rate. Understanding of API design, performance optimization, and system scalability. Understanding of APIs, and familiarity with JSON, Web APIs, REST APIs, JSON-RPC, XML-RPC, RESTful practices. Strong documentation and problem-solving skills. Strong verbal and nonverbal communication skills. Experience with Atlassian Jira/Confluence. Desired Qualifications
Hands-on experience with event-driven architecture. Knowledge of AuthN and AuthZ systems, including Okta, and AWS IAM Policies/Roles using attribute-based access controls. Experience with DevOps tools Terraform and k8s desired. Working Environment
eSimplicity supports a remote work environment operating within the Eastern time zone so we can work with and respond to our government clients. Expected hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern unless otherwise directed by your manager. Occasional travel for training and project meetings is required. It is estimated to be less than 5% per year.
