Overview
Senior Application Systems Analyst — Location: Westlake Village, CA (Preferred). Duration: 5 Months Contract (Potential to go PERM with Client). 100% work from office. As a Senior Systems Analyst, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and implementing major information systems. You will serve as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating complex business requirements into actionable technical specifications. Responsibilities
Requirements Elicitation & Analysis: Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand needs, processes, and challenges, and translate these into clear technical specifications for application and system changes. System Design: Design user interfaces (data entry, query screens, reports, file structures) using appropriate tools. Significant design experience in Relational Databases, Online Systems, and Web-Based Applications. Documentation: Write and revise program and system specifications, create detailed directions for development and modifications, and develop business and technical documentation (functional specs, system design documents, test plans). Project Management & Coordination: Plan, monitor, and control projects to optimize time and resources; lead project activities to align with timelines and deliverables. Technical Problem Solving: Perform complex technical tasks including design, documentation, programming logic, and troubleshooting. Data Analysis & SQL: Create and execute complex SQL queries for data analysis, mapping, and reporting to support decisions and insights. Testing & Quality Assurance: Work with QA to develop and execute test plans, ensuring requirements and performance standards are met. Collaboration & Communication: Act as a subject matter expert, fostering relationships with internal business units, technical teams, and external vendors. Continuous Improvement: Explore new technologies and best practices; identify opportunities for automation and process optimization. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience. 7+ years of relevant experience as a Systems Analyst or Business Systems Analyst; proven track record designing and implementing complex systems solutions. Strong business knowledge, particularly in Financial Services; mortgage industry experience highly preferred. Ability to plan, monitor, and control projects; experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) is valuable. Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills; ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels. Foundational understanding of programming concepts; scripting or basic coding knowledge; familiarity with API specifications (REST, JSON) is beneficial. Proficiency in writing and executing complex SQL queries; strong understanding of relational database schemas and SQL tools. Significant design experience in Relational Databases, Online Systems, and Web-Based Applications. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Google Workspace. Ability to leverage AI tools for writing requirements, use cases, test cases, and design documentation; AI knowledge desired. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Must-Have Skills
Strong proficiency in SQL Server, including scripting and complex query writing. Experience in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban). Ability to analyze data, design relational databases, and translate needs into technical solutions. Excellent communication and collaboration with business and technical teams. Project management skills. Experience leveraging AI tools for documentation and process improvement is a plus. Foundational programming knowledge and scripting experience beneficial. Desired Skills
