The Polo Club of Boca Raton The Director of Golf leads, develops, and delivers an innovative and dynamic golf instruction program that serves members of all ages and skill levels, as well as oversees the operations of our Signature Golf Shop. This position is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of teaching, organizing and mentoring instructional staff, and ensuring that the Polo Club remains at the forefront of golf education, in addition to managing, overseeing and driving the standards of our retail operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
include the following: Provide private lessons, group clinics, junior golf programs, and on-course instruction. Oversee instructional programming and structuring. Research and utilize modern teaching technologies, video analysis, and performance metrics. Design instructional programming for beginner through advanced golfers, as well as specialized groups (ladies, men’s, juniors). Overseeing hard and soft goods retail operations for 3,000 square foot Signature Golf Shop. Collaborate with Shop Managers in merchandising, driving sales efforts, increasing revenue and introduction of compatible brands. Managing the scheduling, payroll for the instructional and retail staff. Collaborate with Director of Golf overseeing Tournaments and Operations regarding member communications. Partake in the special events planning process with Director of Golf overseeing Tournaments and Operations. Participate and be an active thought partner for the Club’s Golf Committee. Manage lesson scheduling, tracking, and revenue reporting. Ensure teaching areas and practice facilities are maintained to the highest quality. Collaborate with the Golf Shop to align instruction with club fitting and merchandising initiatives. Recruit, train, and mentor a team of golf teaching and retail professionals. Foster a collaborative, service-focused culture within the department. Work closely with the Director of Golf and other golf leadership to integrate instructional programs into the overall golf operation. Develop relationships with members to encourage participation and grow the game. Act as an ambassador for Polo Club at club events, tournaments, and in the community. Deliver personalized, high-quality experiences consistent with Polo Club standards. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Requires extensive knowledge of the game of golf and excellent ability to play and teach the game. Requires good business skills which include budgeting, inventory management, purchasing and staff management skills. Ability to spread good-will while upholding the principles of the organization. Must be an excellent player and have good communication skills, both orally and verbally. Must interact cooperatively with all levels of staff in the organization. Requires excellent customer relation skills. Must have good computer skills and be proficient in golf operations software, including, but not limited to; tee times, internet tee times, handicap, POS, word processing, GPS and tournament programs. Ability to analyze, interpret data and prepare reports. Ability to verbally communicate well in English and in writing. Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions in English. Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers and members. Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment. Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise the employees in the Golf Operations department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Qualifications
PGA or LPGA Class A Membership (required). Minimum 5 years of progressive golf instruction experience in a private club, resort, or golf academy setting. Proven success leading teams and managing multi-faceted golf programs. Advanced knowledge of golf swing mechanics, short game, club fitting, retail, and teaching technologies. Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. Passion for growing the game of golf. Strong leadership and mentoring ability. High attention to detail and service excellence. Creativity in program design. Professional presence consistent with the Polo Club brand. Education And/or Experience
