Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer
(COO). The SVP/COO serves as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, responsible for executing the operational strategy and ensuring alignment between business and clinical objectives across all service sites. The COO oversees daily operations of the health center—including primary care sites, mobile units, school-based health centers, and shelter programs as well as Health Information Management (HIM), Call Center and Referrals to support all practice sites—while supporting the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care. The COO works in close partnership with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to ensure financial sustainability and operational systems support clinical excellence, access, and safety. This role is critical to the success of the health center’s mission and strategic goals.
Responsibilities Lead day-to-day execution of strategic priorities across all clinical and administrative sites. Ensure operational efficiency in patient flow, scheduling, access to care, billing accuracy, and continuity of care. Oversee patient-facing functions: registration, scheduling, call center, front desk operations, medical records, and referrals. Implement and enhance performance dashboards, standard workflows and policies across sites to ensure consistency, financial accuracy, and patient satisfaction. Manage facilities, equipment, leases, capital projects, and environment of care standards. Supervise Operations Directors, Scheduling teams, Patient Service Representatives, Call Center, Referrals, HIM, and support services staff. Collaborates with HR on Facilities, Security, EOC, safety, compliance and environmental standards. Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and Executive Team, contributing to long-term planning and organizational sustainability. Embrace innovation and anticipate changes in the healthcare system to ensure the health center remains stable, robust, and responsive. Foster cross-functional collaboration across departments and clinical teams. Lead large-scale initiatives and drive continuous improvement using LEAN and process improvement principles. Ensure regulatory compliance and risk management across operations.
Qualifications Minimum 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations, preferably in ambulatory or community health settings. Demonstrated success managing multi-site operations and large frontline teams. Experience in capitated and value-based care models highly desirable.
Education Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or related field (MBA, MPH, MHA).
