Information Technology Division Chief, SSC/S6

(NH-2210-04, GS-14/15 Equivalent). The Space Systems Command (SSC) S6 is a Command-level organization responsible for and influences the evolution of technology, information, information technology, cyber, security, and cyber security across the command. The Information Technology Division Chief will lead a combined civilian, contractor, military team responsible for improving the Command’s 16K-member IT/user experience by: 1) modernizing the network infrastructure across Space Systems Command, to include inter and intra-base networks, and geographically separated units off DoD installations 2) shaping the Command’s Virtual Desktop Infrastructure efforts to implement and scale multi-classification client system hardware/software to increase secure access to Gov’t data for on-base, remote, and mobile users 3) managing and planning for software application & tool deployment to Command users to increase project management, contract management, engineering, and collaboration software capabilities available to our Command’s workforce 4) providing guidance and policy on DevSecOps best practices to inform Program Management efforts under SSC’s space development portfolio Ideal Candidate

Ideal candidate will have strong understanding of architecting, managing, modernizing, and securing Government networks, as well as experience in cloud-based IT infrastructure and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure solutions. Experience is required in all phases of the acquisition lifecycle from requirements generation, architecture development, RDT&E, production, and operations sustainment. Ideally, the candidate would have experience working with Space Systems Command (SSC), United States Space Force (USSF), Department of the Air Force (DAF), Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), and DoD level Chief Information Office (CIO), Chief Data Office (CDO), and Space Force Chief Technology & Innovation Office (CTIO). Candidate should also be familiar with the space domain/space systems. Finally, candidate should have previous background and experience as a supervisor with knowledge of mentoring and growing a civilian or corporate workforce. Key Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of architecting, managing, modernizing, and securing Government networks, as well as experience in cloud-based IT infrastructure and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure solutions. Experience is required in all phases of the acquisition lifecycle from requirements generation, architecture development, RDT&E, production, and operations sustainment. Knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structure, and operation of the DoD, DoD Chief Information Office, Department of the Air Force, Space Force, and organizations that govern, interface with, and/or influence systems acquisition, development, and/or sustainment; and knowledge of planning, programming, and budgeting cycles, financial systems, and restrictions on expenditure of funds. Knowledge of and skill in evaluating state-of-the-art and advancements in theory, application, technology, and policy affecting systems being developed, and in planning, organizing, and directing the functions and staff in critical aspects of development, production, and/or support of systems, subsystems, or equipment. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective relationships, building consensus and coalitions, negotiating, and resolving conflicts with a variety of individuals and organizations as well as communicating effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions of an organization, and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff through subordinate supervisors as well as analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. Ability to expertly and effectively communicate, verbal, and written, formally (to include briefing) and informally across a broad spectrum of technical engineering disciplines. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization. Requirements

Must be a U.S. Citizen. Position will close in 5 business days or 75 applications (whichever comes first). Resumes limited to 2 pages Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance. Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "unscheduled telework" May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours. PCS / Incentive funding are not authorized. May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments. Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise. This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program. Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 20 days per year. A certification in accordance with DoDI 8410 (previously DoD 8570) IAM Level III is required within first year of employment. Employee must within 30-days of assuming this position and by 31 October annually thereafter, file an OGE-450, “Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.” Employee is required to attend annual ethics and procurement integrity training.
