Local Program Coordinator (Menlo Park) at InterExchange Are you passionate about cultural exchange and fostering connections? The Local Coordinators provide local support to families and au pairs in our Au Pair USA program. This role is suited for someone in the Menlo Park area (94025) who enjoys engaging with people from diverse backgrounds and serving as a mentor. You will become acquainted with the local community and its childcare needs. This flexible part-time remote role involves regular site visits and in-person activities within your local area, and it is well-suited for someone interested in sales, marketing, and community outreach with a basic knowledge of the local landscape. You will build your local cluster of host families, gain financial benefits, and participate in our annual Au Pair USA Conference. You will be part of a nationwide network supported by our Au Pair staff at our New York headquarters, driven by a shared passion for making a positive impact. What You’ll Do In this pivotal role, you will acquaint your au pair with the local community while providing year-round support to both the family and the au pair. Responsibilities include a mix of program administrative duties and hands-on coordination within your local cluster. Hybrid Responsibilities Facilitate relationship building and conflict resolution between families and au pairs, and support participants in resolving issues that may arise during their program year Network within your community and actively participate in grassroots marketing efforts Maintain monthly record-keeping as required Provide temporary emergency housing if needed for an au pair In-Person Responsibilities Conduct in-home interviews with prospective families (Living within a 60-mile radius of Menlo Park is mandatory as per program regulations) Organize monthly cultural events for the au pairs Conduct orientations for new au pair arrivals Coordinate an annual Family Day event for host families and au pairs Provide support and/or short-term housing for au pairs in rare emergencies What You’ll Bring Effective Communication: Clearly conveys information with precision Commitment to Equity: Demonstrates fairness in all interactions Empathy: Shows understanding and sensitivity towards others' needs Problem-Solving: Addresses challenges creatively and efficiently Flexibility and Adaptability: Comfortable adjusting to changing circumstances Reliability: Demonstrates dependable work habits Marketing and Sales Skills: Ability to recruit potential host families Planning: Able to autonomously create and execute duties required by the position Requirements Valid Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation Reliable access to a computer and the internet Ability to attend domestic training and conferences as required Provide professional references Legally able to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship Schedule & Compensation Flexible part-time position, ideally in the Menlo Park metro area Hybrid opportunity: remote administration with occasional in-person site visits in the local area (monthly) Monthly payment schedule based on completed tasks and duties; compensation is not a fixed hourly rate (typical range for active Local Program Coordinators is $30-40 per hour) Mileage reimbursement and internet/cell phone stipend Local Coordinators who host an au pair in good standing may receive a discount off program fees InterExchange is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to creating an inclusive environment.
