Senior Project Engineer/Associate Project Manager Multifamily

332-unit multifamily community under construction , with an additional
370 units in a Phase II expansion . Position Summary The Senior Project Engineer/Associate Project Manager will support the successful delivery of a large-scale multifamily project while developing into a future Project Manager or Development Manager. This role blends hands-on field experience with structured career growth, providing exposure to project controls, preconstruction, quality oversight, and development activities. This position requires a self-starter who thrives in fast-paced environments, has excellent problem-solving skills, and is eager to grow professionally. The role requires an on-site presence five days per week, with direct reporting to senior project leadership. Key Responsibilities Project Support & Controls Assist in maintaining project budgets, schedules, and resources. Develop and maintain six-week lookaheads and updates to the critical path schedule with PM oversight. Apply process improvement / Lean Construction concepts where possible. Prepare daily reports documenting manpower, weather, site conditions, inspections, and progress. Maintain project documentation: plans, specs, contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders. Field Coordination & Oversight Conduct daily site walks to observe and document progress across sitework, foundations, framing, envelope, interiors, utilities, landscaping, lighting, and paving. Coordinate with GC, subcontractors, inspectors, and consultants to address issues. Support QA/QC by identifying deficiencies and tracking corrective actions. Assist in tracking and expediting equipment/material procurement and deliveries. Track and evaluate subcontractor/vendor performance. Preconstruction & Estimating Participate in preconstruction planning for Phase II, including scheduling, budgeting, and constructability reviews. Assist with estimating, bid preparation, subcontractor solicitation, and evaluation. Risk, Safety & Compliance Observe site safety practices, confirm meetings are held, and document hazards or incidents. Support issue and risk tracking alongside senior leadership. Professional Development Actively engage in mentorship, feedback, and self-assessment against core competencies. Build skills in project management, contracts, estimating, and development strategy. Position yourself for growth into a full Project Manager or Development role. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field. 36 years of relevant project engineering or construction management experience. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with multifamily or large-scale commercial projects preferred. Proficiency in Fieldwire, MS Project, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Familiarity with estimating/takeoff software is a plus. Self-starter with ambition to grow into senior leadership or development roles.
