Consultant in Paediatric Gastroenterology
The closing date is 22 October 2025 We are delighted to invite applications for a Full time permanent (10 PA) post for Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist to join an enthusiastic and dynamic multidisciplinary paediatric Gastroenterology team. We provide comprehensive high quality tertiary Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition service across the South West of England. We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic colleague to join a current team of 6 consultants (5.7 WTE). The applicants must possess CCT or be within 6 months of completing the CCT or equivalent in Paediatric Gastroenterology and eligible for GMC sub-speciality register for Paediatric Gastroenterology. Main duties of the job
The service is in Bristol Royal Hospital for Children which is a part of the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). It consists of a variety of hospitals predominantly on a single campus close to the city center and the University of Bristol. The majority of clinical specialties are represented in the hospitals of the Trust which serves a catchment population of over 1 million children region wide. Qualifications & Training
Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) CCT or Equivalent in Paediatric Gastroenterology OR Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) at the point of interview Candidates can be within 6 months of gaining CCT at the date of interview. Full GMC specialist register of Paediatric Gastroenterology Experience
Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in relevant specialty Ability to take responsibility and initiate management plan effectively Evidence of a special interest and expertise that complements those of other consultants in the department Able to take responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision Experience of working in the UK Clinical Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge and experience of relevant specialty Knowledge of NHS priorities with reference to specialty Skills in diagnostic endoscopy independently Broad range of IT skills Experience in managing patients with complex needs Clinical Governance and Audit
Understanding of clinical governance and the individual responsibilities it implies Knowledge of the principles of clinical audit and evidence of participation Participation in continuing professional development (CPD) scheme Demonstrates evidence based practice Evidence of initiatives for service development Research
