Attivo Partners is a fast-growing full-service finance and accounting consulting firm headquartered in San Francisco, with a presence in major startup hubs across the US. Our remote teams specialize in providing fractional CFO and accounting services to venture-backed emerging growth clients, supporting their journey from inception to over $50M in revenue.
Overview The CFO is responsible for all financial affairs and functions for one or more of Attivo’s clients as a key part of their management team. The CFO serves as the engagement lead and manages the client’s accounting, reporting, systems, budgeting, and forecasting. This is a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves leadership role in a fast-paced startup environment. While the position location is flexible/work from home, we prefer candidates in San Francisco/Bay Area, Los Angeles/Southern California, New York City, Austin, and Boston. Some travel to in-person company events is required (approximately 2-3 weeks per year). In-person onboarding training will take place within the first 3 months of employment (locations vary).
Responsibilities
Be a trusted advisor to the CEO, executive management team, and investors
Present financial and operating performance and analyses to the CEO, management team, and Board of Directors
Provide leadership, direction, and management to the finance and accounting team, both Attivo and client teams
Oversee internal financial controls and the preparation of all financial reporting
Drive the company’s financial forecasting and planning
Prepare financial and operating analyses that support business decision making
Ensure cash flow supports the company’s activities
Analyze operations to identify cost efficiencies and implement solutions
Work cross-functionally to develop and disseminate financial and business intelligence
Identify and manage risks to the company’s financial and business health
Review major contracts and subcontracts for completeness and risk
Assist the company with equity and debt financings
Manage treasury function for return and safety
Oversee tax-related matters and ensure timely compliance
Oversee all audits/reviews (financial, tax, bank) and maintain external auditor relationships; ensure GAAP compliance
Assist with special projects assigned by the CEO and/or Board of Directors
Requirements
Ability to strategize and solve problems
Strong leadership and organizational skills
Excellent knowledge of data analysis, modeling, and forecasting methods
Excellent communication and people skills
Strong project management with ability to multi-task, prioritize, and adapt to a rapidly changing environment
Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA/CPA preferred
Minimum of 10 years of senior financial leadership, including 5 years as VP Finance or CFO
Minimum 5 years of experience in venture-backed, emerging growth companies
Experience in fast-paced technology or professional services environments
Experience or interest in fintech, consumer packaged goods, and/or Web3 is highly preferred

Salary & Benefits Salary range: starting at approximately $225,000 to $275,000 per year, plus bonus. Attivo offers a competitive base plus bonus and opportunities for advancement. Benefits for full-time employees include health, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) with employer participation; 3 weeks PTO; voluntary life insurance and disability plans; and a work-from-home allowance. Primary caregivers and others requiring flexible schedules are encouraged to apply; benefits may be prorated for part-time hires.
