Position Summary:

OpenLight is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Sales to lead our sales efforts across North America and Europe. Based in our Santa Clara office, this critical role will be responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding our customer base, and building strong, lasting relationships within the data center, telecommunications, and emerging silicon photonics markets.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the semiconductor and photonics industries, a proven track record of exceeding sales targets, and the ability to articulate complex technical solutions to a diverse customer set. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a hands-on approach to sales execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to achieve and exceed revenue targets for North America and Europe.
  • Identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities within target accounts across data centers, telecommunications, and other relevant markets.
  • Manage and grow existing customer relationships, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and identifying opportunities for expansion.
  • Build and nurture a robust sales pipeline, accurately forecasting sales and providing regular updates to senior management.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product management, and marketing teams to ensure alignment between customer needs and product development.
  • Understand customer technical requirements and effectively communicate OpenLight's value proposition.
  • Represent OpenLight at industry events, conferences, and trade shows.
  • Negotiate complex contracts and agreements.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and market shifts to identify new business opportunities.
  • Potentially build and manage a small team of sales professionals as the company grows.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optics, Physics, Business, or a related technical field. An MBA is a plus.
  • 10+ years of progressive sales experience in the semiconductor, photonics, or related high-tech industries.
  • 5+ years of experience in a sales leadership or management role with direct reports or significant regional responsibility.
  • Experience selling into hyperscale data center operators and Tier 1 telecom providers.
  • Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding multi-million dollar sales quotas in a complex sales environment.
  • Strong understanding of silicon photonics, optical transceivers, and data center networking technologies.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships at all levels.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to develop and execute effective sales plans.
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills.
