Location: San Francisco, CA
Overview Under general administrative direction, manages and directs the activities of professional and technical engineering, architecture, and/or landscape architecture personnel performing highly technical and administrative functions in connection with the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of projects and systems. This is a citywide exam with application steps and selection procedures described below.
Responsibilities
Direct, supervise, and coordinate the design of complex engineering/architecture/landscape architecture projects.
Interview, select, train, monitor, and evaluate departmental staff and consultants.
Plan, organize, and direct the administration and management of contracts.
Direct, supervise, and review the preparation of complex construction contracts and construction documents.
Establish and implement departmental policies, procedures, and administrative directives.
Manage projects, direct, review, and supervise the review of shop drawings by contractors.
Supervise field inspection staff, coordinate activities between a unit and other groups, and consult with technical staff.
Conduct meetings and represent the City; write, review, and approve documents.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Eight (8) years of verifiable professional landscape architecture work experience, including four (4) years as a licensed professional landscape architect. Two (2) of the eight (8) years must be equivalent to the City and County of San Francisco class 5274 Landscape Architect.
Possession of a current Certificate of Registration as a Professional Landscape Architect in the State of California.
Substitutions
A Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture may substitute for 1 year of work experience.
A PhD in Landscape Architecture may substitute for 2 years of work experience.
Licensing & Working Conditions
Some positions may require a valid California Driver's License.
Working conditions may include lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, working at heights and in confined spaces, exposure to weather, and variable schedules including weekends, holidays, nights, or overtime.
