The position is responsible for the management and operation of a farm program, including the direct supervision over crew leaders and farm laborers engaged in performing the various farming activities; keeping records and preparing reports; the proper operation and maintenance of farm equipment; and performing other related duties as assigned. Qualifications To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following requirements: Legal Authorization to Work Requirement: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States. Basic Requirement: Experience (paid or unpaid), education, training or any combination thereof, which demonstrates the ability to read, comprehend and apply written and oral directions; and the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. General Experience: Three (3) years of responsible farm work experience in one or a combination of the following areas: plant/crop production experience or livestock and/or poultry care and management experience. Supervisory Experience: Two (2) years of supervisory work experience which included planning, organizing, scheduling, and directing the work of others; assigning and reviewing their work; advising them on difficult work problems; training and developing subordinates; and evaluating their work performance. Substitution of Education for General Experience: Study at an accredited university, community college, junior college or vocational/technical school in the field of agriculture may be substituted for experience.
