AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.
We're looking for a talented Data Center Design Manager to influence all aspects of data center design, construction, and equipment qualification. You will work with internal and external teams to define, design, and implement complex infrastructure projects that power AWS's global presence.
Primary responsibilities will include leading project teams of discipline leads to deliver quality and globally consistent data center designs globally within schedule and cost constraints while maintaining a high level of quality and leading the equipment qualification process.
Key job responsibilities include:
Lead multidisciplinary project teams to deliver data center designs within schedule and cost constraints
Oversee the complete equipment qualification process, ensuring alignment across various teams and adherence to technical, operational, safety, quality, reliability, and business requirements on a global scale
Develop and sustain a scalable mechanism to seamlessly integrate diverse teams and ensure that all power and cooling equipment undergo the required qualification tests
Collaborate with architectural, structural, electrical, and mechanical disciplines, as well as material suppliers, to deliver high-quality designs that support favorable business outcomes
Manage relationships with internal stakeholders, operations teams, and external consultants
Drive innovation in design and construction processes to reduce costs and improve efficiency
Create and maintain global best practice documentation
Oversee project metrics related to schedule, cost, and quality
Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with design consultants. Anticipated travel not to exceed 25%. International travel may be needed.
Basic Qualifications:
4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities experience
4+ years of commissioning experience
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities
Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities
Experience in commissioning
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Engineer License
Experience with building codes and regulations for your region
Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
