Job Summary
**FIRST REVIEW OF APPLICATIONS OCTOBER 17TH
The Accounting Technician receives, sorts, corrects, and reconciles a variety of accounting documents such as invoices, payment vouchers, and billings in the Social Services Department. The Technician posts data to appropriate accounts, reviews and codes financial information, disburses funds, makes deposits, and prepares financial reports. The Accounting Technician maintains detailed debtor client files and initiates legal collection.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires one year of post-secondary education in accounting or business administration and two years accounting related experience, or equivalent.
Examples of related experience include: banking and bookkeeping, reconciliation of accounts, debt collection, accounts payables or receivables, financial data entry.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency level (ex: PivotTables/PivotCharts, Macros, Streamline workflow, collaborate with other workbooks, audit worksheets, analyze data, work with multiple workbooks, import/export, use Excel with the web, structure workbooks with XML)
Supplemental Information
HIRING RANGE / UNION: $24.98 - $26.11 per hour / SS Unit - Grade 7HOURS: Normal business hours are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday. Full-time hours equal 40 hours per week

Examples of Duties
- Completes Accounts Payable duties for the Social Services Department, including vouchers, administrative bills, and other miscellaneous billings.
- Performs accounts receivable duties for the Social Services Department, including processing social welfare checks, social security checks, fees, and child support payments.
- Enters budget and financial data into the computer system, balances journals and bank statements, and completes related reports.
- Performs a variety of tasks related to the collection of agency fees and program recoveries owed the state and county.
- Compiles, enters and processes monthly medical billings for agency reimbursements.
- Provides administrative support, including record keeping and filing responsibilities, assists the clerical staff with various duties including answering phones, assisting clients at counter, processing incoming and outgoing mail, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
