Overview

JANITOR- FULL TIME (LEOMINSTER, MA) Salary Range: $16.83 To $20.01

Base pay range: $16.83/hr - $20.01/hr

Position Summary: This position provides building services for the Authority. The base location for the position is at 840 North Main St. Leominster; however, functions at other Authority properties may be assigned. Primary functions (75%) include cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining the appearance of the interior and exterior components of the building. Secondary functions (20%) include, but are not limited to, grounds picking and limited landscaping care. Tertiary functions (5%) include supporting other positions such as assisting the building maintenance team (e.g., replacing a ceiling tile, light bulb) or other tasks as required by business needs.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and upkeep of the building and grounds. Ensure the buildings are in presentable condition.
• Using typical janitorial equipment properly and professionally including vacuums, brooms, mops, floor scrubbers, duster, and other reasonably designated cleaning equipment.
• Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors. Clean and stock restrooms. Sanitize toilets, faucets, sinks and other fixtures. Wipe down knobs, handles, railings, dust vents and high contact areas.
• Clean up spills with appropriate equipment. Clean windows (interior and exterior). Change/clean filters as directed.
• Inform supervisors or managers of major repairs that are needed. Collect and dispose of all building trash. Complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
• Stock supply stock and notify supervisor when low. Ensure doors are locked after hours. Perform minor building upkeep tasks within ability.
• Assist with snow removal, including shoveling, salting, and sanding during winter conditions.
• When duties and responsibilities change, employees may be asked to perform other duties as required by business needs. Identify changes in job duties since last review. May be asked to participate in performance-evaluation process.

Qualifications

• High school Diploma or GED. 2+ years experience as a housekeeper, janitor, building custodian, or similar capacity with relevant skills applied.
• Experience with cleaning a commercial, institutional, or government facility. Knowledge of cleaning products, chemicals, and appropriate uses. Ability to read, write, and understand English. Valid Driver’s License.
• Skills: Time management, ability to work independently, ability to lift at least 25 pounds, basic math, knowledge of typical janitorial tasks, safe use of cleaning supplies, ability to operate basic cleaning equipment (mop, broom, vacuum), ability to perform snow removal tasks (lifting, shoveling, applying ice melt).

Working Environment

Physical demands typical of janitorial work; exposure to cleaning chemicals and routine building maintenance tasks. Night and weekend shifts may be required as part of the role.
