Overview
Assistant Project Manager - Indianapolis, IN. This role supports project delivery from planning to closeout, coordinating subcontractors, schedules, budgets, and documentation. They assist with procurement, RFIs, change orders, and safety compliance, while ensuring quality standards are met. The base pay range is $75,000.00/yr - $100,000.00/yr. The actual pay will be based on skills and experience.
Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager in planning, scheduling, and coordinating all phases of construction projects.
- Run the project with the Project Manager and have experience running them yourself.
- Assist with subcontractor procurement, scope review, contract preparation, and performance tracking.
- Maintain and update project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and daily logs.
- Monitor project budgets and cost reports, flag variances and assist with corrective actions.
- Coordinate material orders, deliveries, and inspections to keep the schedule on track.
- Communicate regularly with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to resolve issues.
- Help enforce safety protocols and quality control standards on-site.
- Prepare meeting agendas, take minutes, and follow up on action items.
- Support project closeout activities including punch lists, warranty documentation, and turnover packages.
Profile / Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience in commercial, educational, multifamily, or institutional construction, preferably with a general contractor.
- Working knowledge of construction methods, materials, and trades - especially concrete, masonry, carpentry, and sitework.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Procore or similar project management software is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Detail-oriented with solid problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
