The Opportunity :

As a Truck Driver 2, you'll operate trucks and special vehicles ranging from 28,000 to 60,000 GVW, ensuring the safe and timely transport of materials and supplies between university buildings. You'll also operate a variety of specialized equipment-including recycling balers, rotary paper shredders, steam treatment systems, dollies, pallet jacks, hydraulic lifts, and forklifts-to support efficient material handling and delivery. Your attention to safety and reliability will help keep university operations running smoothly.

Additional Information:

This is a full time (100 % FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

Monthly Salary: $4,428 to $5,137 | Range 43G (Steps G-M) | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
  • Possession of a valid driver's license AND at least one (1) year experience working as a Truck Driver 1; OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Must have a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License at the time of hire.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain within six (6) months of hire, a forklift certification.
  • Ability to operate multiple types of vehicles and equipment safely in all weather conditions and working environments.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule when necessary.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across work groups in order to deliver positive outcomes.
  • Willingness and ability to safely lift materials above 50 pounds.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience of recycling processes and commodities.
  • Prior experience with hazardous or potentially hazardous materials.
  • Experience operating Class A or B vehicles with 9-15 speed manual transmissions.
