Position Overview
The Accountant will oversee all day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable/receivable, monthly close, reconciliations, and reporting. This role is critical in keeping our financial operations smooth and supporting leadership with accurate, timely insights.

Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations
Manage the full accounting cycle: A/P, A/R, bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and expense tracking.
Oversee client billing and ensure accurate revenue recognition for marketing retainers, performance-based fees, and ad spend pass-throughs.
Prepare and review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger.
Financial Reporting
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for leadership.
Ensure timely month-end and year-end closes.
Provide insights on variances, cash flow trends, and profitability by client/project.
Compliance & Process Improvement
Ensure compliance with GAAP and work with external CPA on tax filings and audits.
Implement and improve internal controls, policies, and procedures to increase accuracy and efficiency.
Optimize processes for invoicing, collections, and expense reimbursements.
Collaboration & Leadership
Partner closely with the CEO and department leads to provide financial visibility into campaign budgets and operating costs.
Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and vendors as needed.
Support the evaluation and potential migration to more scalable financial tools or ERP systems as Pantelope grows.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience; at least 2+ years in a supervisory or manager-level role.
Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end/year-end close processes.
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online) and advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills.
Experience in a service-based business; agency or SaaS experience is a plus.
Knowledge of revenue recognition for retainers and pass-through media billing preferred.
Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
