The University of Georgia is seeking a Security Guard to assist in the proper protection of persons and property in and around all residential communities housing more than 9000 residents.

The University’s main campus is located in Athens, approximately 65 miles northeast of Atlanta, with extended campuses in Atlanta, Griffin, Gwinnett, and Tifton.

Responsibilities

• Conduct foot patrols around assigned residential community, checking buildings and grounds in and around the area.
• Watch for and report all life safety issues such as suspicious persons, fire hazards, leaking water pipes, unlocked security doors and other irregularities.
• Provide walking escorts for students and provide vehicle transport for housing staff upon request.
• Provide coverage during all University holidays and breaks.
• Address, report, and document any policy violations or violations of the law.

Requirements

• Requires at least a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Two or more years’ security, police or military experience preferred.
• Work experience on a University Campus preferred.

Working Conditions

9 p.m. – 6 a.m. five days per week. Could include weekends. Two days off.

Salary and Benefits

$45,000 per year. Benefits eligible.
