Grand Blanc Community Schools is hiring: Security Guard in Flint

Overview

Security guard position for Grand Blanc Community Schools during Student Days. Schedule: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm. No fringe benefits. Compensation: $17.00–$20.00/hour dependent upon experience.

Must be capable of establishing a good working relationship with students, parents and staff, and must be patient, able and willing to work with high school students. Must successfully complete a Live Scan Criminal Records Check.

Responsibilities

• Build positive relationships with students and staff to foster a safe, welcoming environment
• Help enforce school rules in a respectful and consistent manner
• Supervise students throughout the school day including waiting for after-school athletic or academic sessions
• Patrol district building and grounds to ensure student safety including unauthorized persons or vehicles
• Act quickly and effectively in emergencies such as fights, medical incidents, fire alarms, or other alerts
• Follow the school’s emergency protocols and assist in the case of evacuations or lockdowns
• Make written reports of security violations to building principal
• Responsible for limited after school supervision
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Previous successful experiences with students through community or school related activities
• Previous law enforcement or security experience preferred
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred
• Must be capable of establishing a good working relationship with students, parents and staff
• Must be patient, able, and willing to work with high school students
• Experience good judgment and decision-making in accordance with board policies and the student handbook
• Demonstrate experience with record-keeping and organization
• Demonstrate mental/physical ability and stamina for meeting requirements of this position
• Familiarity with restorative practices and ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate) emergency response procedures preferred
• Must successfully complete a Live Scan Criminal Records Check
