The Security department has four (4) openings for a Full Time Security Guard. The successful candidate must be able to meet the normal requirements of the job and possess the following qualifications:

Qualifications

• Graduate of Community College Law and Security / Police Foundations program, OR graduate of recognized Emergency Services training facility, and/or 3-5 years of experience in Tactical Security OR Healthcare Security.
• Valid Security Guard License.
• 3 years of previous experience in dealing with the public in a law enforcement / Security role – preferred.
• Use of Force and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training is considered an asset.

• Attention to detail and ability to perform required duties.
• Physically able to perform the essential duties of this role.
• Testing will be based off of the PIN test requiring a 75% minimum score, including Push-ups / Flexibility / Core Endurance / 2.4 Km run.

• Adherence to the duties of workers, as stipulated in the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in English to communicate with staff, patients, contractors and visitors.
• Must have basic computer skills.
• Ability to perform all essential duties, which may include standing for long periods, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, and moving/transferring patients.
• Excellent organizational and prioritization skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to professional appearance and maintaining a clean and functional uniform.
• Undertake any other duties as directed by the Security Coordinator or designate.

Basic Responsibilities

Security Guards at Riverside Health Care Facilities will report directly to the Security Coordinator and are responsible for ensuring a healthy and safe environment for hospital staff, patients, volunteers, physicians and visitors. They will monitor the buildings and grounds for hazards and address them appropriately, conducting duties in a courteous, effective, and professional manner at all times.

Specific Duties

• Attend departmental briefings and report incidents or concerns from the last shift.
• Accurately maintain security notebooks, logs and incident reports.
• Report and record all events involving unauthorized personnel, criminal acts, misconduct and policy breaches.
• Patrol all buildings, hallways, entrance ways, stairwells and grounds of LVGH.
• Maintain situational awareness during patrols and interactions with all people.
• Observe and report defects or hazards to the Security Manager or Maintenance.
• Work in conjunction with Law Enforcement and Government Agencies; attend court/legal proceedings when required.
• Enforce No-Smoking Policy for staff, patients and visitors.
• Monitor exterior grounds and parking areas; conduct security escorts for staff as needed.
• Respond quickly to hospital codes and maintain communications.
• Assist staff in the use of the PINEL restraint system as required; monitor Form 1 patients as needed.
• Perform searches of belongings as required, while adhering to procedures and laws.
• Monitor CCTV for unusual activity; maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Maintain required training certifications: Use of Force, Communications, PINEL restraints, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Security License, etc.

Responsible To

• This position is responsible to the Security Coordinator.
• Pay is hourly and follows Non-Union Terms and Conditions.

Current Assignment

• This position may be required to work days, evenings, nights, and weekends, on 12-hour shifts.
• Start date: ASAP.
