Position Summary: This position is responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the human resources function for the Bonner, Montana area. This includes establishing and guiding HR practices, ensuring compliance with policies, programs, practices, local laws; managing staffing needs; recruiting; training; personnel files; employee relations; and benefits administration.

Functions and Responsibilities

  • Manages the personnel policies and the employee handbook by reviewing and recommending improvements to the Director of HR and communicating approved changes to all employees.
  • Aligns HR functions with business needs (compensation, performance management, recruiting, training, compliance).
  • Provides front-line, day-to-day HR expertise to managers and employees; ensures policy compliance and guides managers on handbook administration.
  • Oversees local recruiting: posting vacancies, screening/interviewing, selection, and new hire orientations; ensures accurate new hire paperwork and payroll readiness.
  • Addresses employee relations issues and conducts timely investigations.
  • Oversees training programs (harassment, safety, new hire orientation, on-the-job training, etc.).
  • Manages performance review process; guides managers on expectations and ongoing feedback.
  • Processes changes in personnel within guidelines and requests exceptions as needed (promotions, compensation changes, etc.).
  • Provides guidance on terminations; conducts exit interviews and recommends improvements.
  • Ensures data accuracy and reports as requested by management and government agencies; provides HR metrics and recommendations for process improvements.
  • Consults with legal counsel as appropriate on personnel matters; performs other incidental duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or 5+ years of HR experience; manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact with C-level to hourly associates; fair treatment of all individuals.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team while managing multiple projects to meet deadlines.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Prior experience with Workforce Now and ADP is desirable.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, time management, and prioritization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills; understanding of state employment laws and ability to apply them.
