Job Description: Multiple positions will be filled from this recruitment. The Housekeeping Building (B) Supervisor will supervise housekeeping staff within the building(s) assigned (normally 1 to 6 housekeepers), coordinate daily activities, conduct building inspections to ensure tasks are completed per department policy, and manage ordering, inventory, and issuing supplies to maintain clean facilities. This role also serves as the primary Special Project Team Leader for specialized cleaning requirements and reports to work as directed during emergency closings.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise housekeeping staff within the assigned building(s) (normally 1 to 6 housekeepers).
  • Coordinate daily activities of the housekeeping staff.
  • Conduct building inspections to ensure cleaning tasks comply with department policy.
  • Order, manage inventory, and issue supplies to ensure buildings are stocked with cleaning and consumable supplies for restrooms and other areas as necessary.
  • Serve as the primary Special Project Team Leader for specialized cleaning requirements.
  • Report to work as directed during emergency closings.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Knowledge, skills and abilities: Working knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, equipment, and safety practices; effective customer service and communication techniques; ability to lead the work of others; ability to read and explain cleaning directions and standards; ability to write and record inspection results on standard inspection forms; ability to lift up to 25 lbs. many times per day.
  • Special licenses, registrations or certifications: Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
  • Education or training: .
  • Experience: Experience in housekeeping/cleaning large buildings; some institutional supervisory experience; experience operating standard housekeeping equipment; experience in the use and application of chemicals such as germicides, disinfectants and caustic solutions.
  • Additional considerations: Previous housekeeping experience in an institutional setting (ideally higher education); experience with supply ordering and inventory; experience preparing weekly supply usage reports.

Conditions of Employment
